Exotic Review : Thunderlord

“They rest quiet on fields afar…for this is no ending but the eye.” – Hymn of the Thunderlord

The Thunderlord is a mystic, mythical figure from years past, from aeons that have plummeted and its name is remembered with reverence and awe. The Thunderlord has an experimental core that turns this heavy weapon into a tornado. A hurricane of relentless bullets caked in lightning, each one hitting their mark. Its your turn to pick it up now. Continue its legend and wield the Thunderlord like the mythic figure of old.

The Thunderlord is an ideal weapon to make every hit count with your machine gun ammunition. It lives up to its name with its perk, Lightning Rounds which causes it to fire faster and more accurately the longer the trigger is held. This allows the exotic to consistently hit on your targets and more importantly those critical hit spots. However, this machine gun is more ideally placed in a PVE capacity, especially when going up against those Ultra level enemies. If the perk activated as soon as you touched the trigger it would be a viable choice for PVP but since it requires some charging, your opponent would already be dead by the time the perk reaches its best potential. While in PVE, the ability to become more accurate over time and for the bullets to hit your targets faster means you have a greater chance to constantly hit those critical shots and eliminate the big targets quicker. However, while it is a PVE weapon and has great impact and base stability, the perk will only really activate when the trigger is held for a fair while and so low level enemies won’t be affected by this perk in much the same way as Crucible Guardians.

The Thunderlord has a lovely dark blue colour that contrasts rather beautifully with the black that comprises most of the weapon. It has a sleek, rounded off look that makes it easy to take in and to appreciate. But the most stunning part about this weapon isn’t captured by the picture above and it is the bolts and streaks of blue lightning that periodically grace the outside of the gun in a show of its experimental power and divine force.

How to Acquire it?
The Thunderlord can be gained from an exotic heavy engram or purchasing it from Xur if you are lucky enough for him to have it in his inventory.
