It is that time of year when all our dreams and hope coalesce into one amazing game! Star Wars Battlefront 2 is that game. With a highly theatrical and appropriate Stormtrooper MArch, this portion of the EA conference was kicked off.
With an offline story that will take place before the events of A New Hope, similar to Rogue One, Battlefront 2 will provide new perspectives on the story giving us some familiar faces to both fear and admire as well as some new characters for our enjoyment.
One of the most amazing announcements was about the size of the sequel, with three times the content of the original game, which is HUGE! This includes the main reason we all play this game and that’s multiplayer, which has been redone with greater customisation systems and more ways to play, as tacky as that sounds.
The Battlefront 2 multiplayer will have a greater range of heroes, including Rey, wielding her lightsaber, along with new weapons and vehicles for you to decimate your foes on the battlefield. There will be more immersive space battles and like it was mentioned before, a deeper level of character progression and customisation.
Not only that but the multiplayer will span across all eras of the Star Wars universe. This means you can blow up, slash and obliterate Stormtroopers, Droids and Sith with reckless abandon. Never has the Star Wars universe been so accessible in one place.
Now, in relation to the progression, there is now a new Class System that benefits different characters in different ways. There are special weapons each class can utilise, unique abilities and strengths. This allows players to practice different roles and become proficient in a certain skill set, making it feel as if there is more skill required to play the game and indeed play certain characters.
There is also the Battlepoints System, which grants special points for completing the multiplayer objectives. These points are essentially skill points and can be invested into the different heroes or vehicles that are in the game.
For all you fans of The Force Awakens and especially Finn, it was revealed by John Boyega himself that both Finn and Captain Phasma will be added into the game as part of scheduled free content drops, which will begin, with the first season arriving at the end of the year. All content drops for Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be free, meaning every new hero, mode, map and weapon that comes will not be locked behind a paywall and will be accessible to everyone.
Pre-order now to get early access to the multiplayer mode which will become available later this year. Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released on November 17th, 2017.
