‘Destiny 2’ Raid News And Possible Location?

In an interview with Mashable, Luke Smith discussed the Raids of Destiny and how they have evolved over time, as new Raids were added and the unique challenges were overcome. But that is not why this is important.

In regards to the inaugural Raid of Destiny 2 with which Bungie is being quite intentionally vague (as usual), Smith stated that it is, “A place that you believe could exist…It’s unlike anything we’ve ever done”. While it is not clear how the upcoming Raid will feel realistic in a world full of space magic and undead warrior but it is going to be interesting to find out. My best guess would be that the Raid will feature quite close to the settlements or social areas so that there is a greater sense of collateral danger, rather than transporting us off to a secluded realm.

Keeping on with the topic of the Raid, all the way back in May, Destiny’s official Twitter account posted the above Tweet, in regards to the new Raid in Destiny 2. In it we see the characteristic six Guardians charging, guns blazing into the depths of some unknown location. It could very well be the inside of one of the Traveler’s Shards,

This image was released, also on the official Destiny Twitter account, which showcases a confirmed piece of the Traveler set within the European Dead Zone. Due to the direct connection between the Traveler and the powers of the Guardians, the final showdown with Ghaul could occur within the depths of this Shard. It would make a lot of sense as we will be able to discover the true origins and purposes of the Traveler and the true reality of our connection to it.

The reason I hypothesise that the EDZ Shard is the location for the Raid is, in part, due to an interview with Glixel, in which they mention that the European Dead Zone is the largest zone that has ever been in Destiny. But whether it is the location for the new Raid, it is definitely going to play a major part in Destiny 2. It could very well be the location for a Story Mission, Adventure or a Lost Sector but we will have to wait and see.

Destiny 2 releases on September 6th, 2017, for Playstation 4, Xbox One and October 24th for PC.
