The Crackdown 3 Delay Will Only Be Good For The Game

In a series of correspondence with Polygon, Microsoft confirmed that Crackdown 3 has bee delayed to the Spring of 2018 (Autumn for all us Aussies). Microsoft Studios Publishing General Manager, Shannon Loftis has said that Reagent Games, Sumo Digitial and Cloudgine needed more time to make the best quality experience possible.

The developers wanted to ensure that the experiences were of a high quality and consistent throughout the entire game, whether it be the campaign, co-op multiplayer, competitive multiplayer or the Wrecking Ball mode.

This is not the first time Crackdown 3 has been delayed due to its ambitious nature. It was delayed back in 2016 for similar reasons as to now – it simply needs more time. But these extra few months players have to wait for the launch of Crackdown 3 could be a great thing for the game because let’s face it, gamers will find something to complain about and that was evident at the E3 2017 reveal. Players were a little disappointed with how Crackdown 3 looked visually, expecting a much more polished and vibrant look.

A part of the delay is to focus on the visual polish of Crackdown 3, Shannon Loftis has said;

Among other items, we are taking the extra time to focus on the visual polish so gamers can feel completely immersed in a living world”

Despite the delay taking away a powerful and highly anticipated game from the lineup of Xbox One X, if Reagent Games, Sumo Digital and Cloudgine can follow up on what they have promised here, Crackdown 3 will be worth the additional wait.
