EB Expo 2017: Games Lineup And What To Expect

2017 marks the year that the EB Expo makes a return to the Gold Coast and the lineup could not be hotter, presenting some heavy hitting titles for gamers to try out. This is what to expect from EB Expo 2017.

Xbox One X

Xbox One X

The Xbox One X will be making an appearance at Eb Expo, giving players a chance to test out the new features and functionality of the new console before its release later this year. Expect some exceptional console visuals wherever Microsoft sets up shop.

Assassins Creed Origins

Assassins Creed Origins

Step into the shoes of Bayek as players travel back to Ancient Egypt (FINALLY) and experience the near end of the Egyptian Empire providing players with a glimpse of over 3000 years of history.

Combat and exploration have been revamped in the latest iteration of the franchise as well as being combined with more RPG-type elements like character levelling, skill trees and greater choice when choosing weapons and armour. It is likely that Assassins Creed Origins will be playable on the Xbox One X due to it being a launch title for the console. I for one have been waiting months to finally play it and will be excited to test it out before its October 27th release date.

Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 has seen a great amount of success over the years with some crazy villains (Vaas) and more recently a crazy dictator I have to admit has pretty good taste in suits (that purple one still haunts me) but this latest one has me a little on edge. It could be for all the crazy religious stuff that sits in a very real place close to modern times but Far Cry 5 will still definitely be at Eb Expo.

Personally, I am on the fence about the game but it would be nice to try it out and see just how crazy this religious stuff gets. Either way a very bold video game move.

Call Of Duty WWII

Call of Duty WWII

After swearing off Call of Duty due to the increasingly technological game ‘innovations’ this new one has me intrigued. Call of Duty WWII takes the franchise back to its roots focusing on the 1st Infantry Division and their battles on the Western Front. Sledgehammer Games has moved away from the more fantastical stuff and not shied away from the brutality of World War II while maintaining respect for those that suffered because of it.

The story mode will take players to notable battles on the Western Front, while multiplayer will present even more battlefields and fronts not seen in the campaign. Not to mention, I hope that the Expo will allow us to try out the new Zombies mode, which references a secret Super Soldier program undertaken by the Nazi Germany in order to make soldiers that were faster, stronger and more resilient than a normal man. Zombies based in fact is even better than just zombies.

Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey is a new 3D adventure that is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, but it seems to symbolise a fair change to the typical Mario formula. Odyssey sees Mario leave the Mushroom Kingdom with his new friend Cappy where he will explore brand new regions full of fun and danger. The new fun can be summarised in two words; Hat Possession. Mario can now utilise Cappy to take control of all sorts of objects, from tanks, dinosaurs and familiar enemies.

Having been a fan, albeit not a huge fan of the Mario series, and a wearer of hats, I am pumped that this game is going to be at EB Expo, because it seems like the breath of fresh air that Mario needs to be perfectly honest.

God Of War

God of War:Atreus

Kratos is back, with a brand new world of Norse mythology to fight and murder, alongside his son Atreus. What a nice bit of bonding. Combat has been rebuilt and will feature RPG elements as well as an elementally charged axe, instead of his twin chained blades.

It does not say explicitly if we will get to play God of War at EB Expo, instead saying that we will be able to experience it. I have to assume we will be able to get hands-on with the game but I am hoping for something a little bigger. Either way, it will be nice to experience a new mythology and slash it…a lot. Kratos needs some diversity.

Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War

Shadow of War

Entering into any prominent fictional universe is always exciting, but when that universe is Lord of the Rings, it gets even better. Players will step into the role of Talion, a ranger of Gondor who happens to be inhabited by the spirit of elf-lord Celebrimbor. That is how he gets all the crazy powers that we know and love.

It is going to be nice to return and start murdering the followers of Sauron again but I am really hoping that whatever mission demo we get to try out will have Bruz the Chopper in it, I want to be best friends with him.

Just Dance 2018

Just Dance 2018

It would not be EB Expo without Just Dance making an appearance. Just Dance 2018 will be at the Expo and if it is like the previous Expos, there will be a long line of dancers just waiting to try it out. There is nothing like watching someone in a full Ghillie Suit dancing to Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira. It is beautiful.

Regurgitator: Art Vs Science

Regurgitator Art vs Science

Australian rock icons Regurgitator will be coming to the Expo to perform in celebration of their triple-platinum album ‘Unit’ reaching the 20-year mark. They will be joined by Art Vs Science and 7Bit Hero with an amazing show that you will not want to miss. There is an additional fee of $49.99 in order to enjoy this concert so you will want to get in quickly.

Now, this is not everything the Expo has to offer, with competitive competitions, more AAA titles and a lot of shopping that my wallet will not be able to handle but they are some of the bigger things happening at EB Expo 2017. For a full list, check out the official site.
