What We Know About Destiny 2: Curse Of Osiris DLC

A reveal trailer has been released earlier this morning detailing the Curse of Osiris DLC, the very first expansion of Destiny 2. Featuring the formerly (and probably still) exiled Warlock Osiris, the Curse of Osiris will deal with a new Vex threat with past and future Vex all coalescing into our timeline to reshape the world.

Who Is Osiris?

Osiris is a very old and powerful Warlock who fought alongside Saint-14 and other notable Titans at the Battle Of Six Fronts. He became fascinated by the purpose of Guardians and the origins of the Darkness and the enemies arrayed against the Tower. Osiris predicted the coming of Oryx and developed an obsessive hunger for understanding concerning the Vex. The last anyone saw of him, he was heading for Mercury and was last detected inside the network of Vex gates.

Mercury And The Reef?

Guardians will get to explore Mercury as a proper planetary destination not just a pretty backdrop for Lighthouse visitors. We will get to roam the Infinite Forest, which I assume will be the main area for the new cinematic story and the Patrols that will open up after the campaign is completed. There will most likely be another race other than Vex on Mercury combating them and you for control. This generally seems to be the pattern for most of Destiny’s planets. My guess is the Fallen.

The Reef?

During the trailer, Ikora mentions that Osiris is the only one that has glimpsed the dark future that awaits Guardians and we get a look at a purple-lit area that looks suspiciously like the Reef. It could simply be an area of the Infinite Forest but I really want to return to the Reef. I WANT MARA SOV BACK!

New Social Space

The Lighthouse.png

Formerly a haven for those skilled enough to go Flawless in Trials of Osiris, the Lighthouse has now opened up as a proper social space. The Lighthouse served as Osiris’ base of operations while he studied the Vex and there will hopefully be plenty to discover roaming around this holy place.

It also could be a possibility that Disciples of Osiris will make an appearance at the Lighthouse as well. I mean that figure up top looks vaguely like Brother Vance doesn’t it?

New Raid Content?

Chrome Vex

The wording of this, coming from the official description on the Activision blog is a little confusing. It could have been done intentionally to generate a bit of speculation but it would seem as if we are not getting a new raid, but changes to the existing one. The Curse of Osiris story is going to revolve around past and future Vex attempting to reshape the world in their image so they very well could attempt to take over the Leviathan.

This would have to introduce new bosses and new encounters but with a chrome Vex finish. There are a few bosses in the reveal trailer that look Raid worthy, but either way, there will be new Raid content. I think it would be a different move for Bungie to reshape and alter mechanics for an existing Raid instead of creating a new one. Could work out very well, but we will have to wait and see.

New Strikes

Old School Vex

Given the plurality of Strikes, we know we are getting at least two and will most likely heavily feature the Vex and instructions from Osiris. This has got me quite excited due to the upcoming changes to Strike replayability to make them more rewarding.

Brand New Weapons And Armour Sets

New Weapons

It would not be a true expansion if we did not have new weapons and armour. Most of the weapon glimpses were very rapid throughout the trailer but the above picture definitely stuck out. Curse of Osiris armour and weapons appear to be sleek and elegant with technological additions.

Although, the weapon the Titan is holding does appear to be unique enough that it may be a new Exotic weapon acquirable in the Curse of Osiris. Activision’s blog did mention that there would be a new World Quest for Mercury and that weapon could be the reward for completing it. In Destiny 2, World Quests have provided Exotic weapons or routes to Exotic weapons that are quite unique and powerful. We will have to wait and see.

One thing is for sure, I want a Ghost skin that emulates Osiris’ chromed out and flattened out Ghost. That thing is cool!

Release Date

Vex Structure

Curse of Osiris will be released December 5th, 2017 for Expansion Pass holders and there will most likely be an outlet to purchase Curse of Osiris directly.

  1. Hey man, just wanted to drop by and let you know that I added your site to my favorites hahah. It’s really great and your writing is top notch! I’m so tired of big gaming sites like IGN and Gamespot full of ads and tiny botched 2-sentences articles. Yours is refreshing, simple, to the point, user friendly. And you are a gamer I can relate with, not some try hard snob writer from a big company who’s sole purpose is to make money. It shows that you ‘enjoy’ what you are doing, and the best thing is you’re good at it! So keep it up, you’re doing an awesome job! 🙂

PS. Your Destiny 2 analysis of the exotics and stuff was very very helpful to me, so a big thank you!
