A recent interview with GAME FREAK’s Kazumasa Iwao and Shigeru Ohmori have revealed a few more minor details about Pokemon UltraSun and Pokemon UltraMoon just ahead of its November 17th release date. It is also released just under a week before my birthday in case anyone was thinking of buying me a gift. Just saying.
UltraSun and UltraMoon will focus heavily on the story of Necrozma and the way it is trying to remove the light from the Alola region and taken over the bodies of Lunala and Solgaleo. It is actually panning out to be a very engaging story, especially when you add the fact that there is a lightless city known as Ultra Megalopolis which also had its light stolen. At the core of the story, alongside Necrozma and the Ultra Beasts, will be the Ultra Recon Squad, a new organisation that will most likely be doing some horrible thing in the world of Pokemon.
The Ultra Recon Squad will actually be the main villains throughout the main story, as opposed to the recently revealed Team Rainbow Rocket, who will actually arrive on the scene at the conclusion of the main story. This is where it gets quite interesting, as each of the returning villains of Rainbow Rocket each come from a world/timeline where their dark ambitions were fulfilled. Team Magma successfully controlled Groudon and expanded the land, Aqua raised the seas and so on. In a way, each of the Pokemon bosses is at the top of their game and it is really exciting to see how it will play out in what is effectively end game content.
But if I may jump back to the main story for just a second, it was also unveiled that old enemies will be returning as allies in the main story, including the leader of Team Skull, your boy Guzma.
You learn through the conclusion of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon that Guzma isn’t actually a real bad guy, just manipulated and used by Lusamine. This leads me to think that since the Ultra Beasts are at the heart of UltraSun and UltraMoon, that we will be seeing Gladion return triumphantly and hopefully a lot more powerful. Either way, the story of the latest instalment of Pokemon is going to be quite entertaining.
Finally, I have to mention the cloth covered ghost in the room. Mimikyu is getting a brand new Z-Move that is only slightly creepy. The new Fairy type Z-Move, known as Let’s Snuggle Forever is only accessible when Mimikyu has Mimikium Z equipped and Play Rough is known. Mimikyu is one of my favourite Pokemon so it is going to be a great addition to my ghost arsenal.
Only a few days lie between now and Pokemon UltraSun and UltraMoon and I am simply counting down the days!
