Warframe’s Saryn Is Getting An Experimental Ability Rework

According to a Digital Extremes Developer Workshop, the goal of this rework was to make the links between Spore and the rest of her abilities more intuitive and sensible to use. Not to mention, that overall, Saryn’s Toxic Lash and Molt were quite underused when compared to the damage combo of Spores and Miasma.

Spores 2.0 will see the damage type of Spores changed from Viral to Corrosive to better strip armour from your enemies as well as to allow more than one proc per second. Once Spores is activated it will deal damage for an infinite duration slowly increasing its damage per tick the longer it remains active. When an enemy affected by Spores dies it will cause the effect to spread to surrounding foes. However, it is important to note that this may be reworked before the launch of Spores 2.0.

Finally, recasting Spores will detonate all active Spores, dealing 2x damage on any infected enemies based on the number of active Spores and the current damage per tick. This provides an incentive to let Spores remain active as long as possible before detonating.

Molt will remain quite similar to how it functions before Saryn 2.0, as an awesome deception tool. The primary change is that Molt will operate similarly to Iron Skin, any damage that Molt takes in the first few seconds after casting will make it stronger. Any damage taken after that will target the decoy’s health. Upon activating Molt Saryn will receive a brief speed boost to allow Saryn time to reposition.

Toxic Lash was an odd ability, providing a melee-centric playstyle for a non-melee Warframe. Lash was revisited and duration increased from 30 seconds to 45 seconds, which is optimal for the primary change that provides toxin damage on any damage instance. This means that while Toxic Lash is active any damage done from a Primary, Secondary or Melee weapon will deal toxin damage.

Miasma has been switched from Corrosive to Viral damage and has provided it with a 100% guaranteed Viral damage effect on damage tick. Miasma will now last for five seconds dealing a grand total of 500 damage, which is a significant step up from the previous 350. Miasma will also deal double damage on any and all targets affected by Spores, which will function quite well given the new changes.

Saryn 2.0 will launch in a near update coming first to PC followed shortly after by console. It is going to be quite a fun change!
