With the Megalodon roaming the waters of Sea of Thieves as part of The Hungering Deep update, pirates and seafarers are eager to discover what their next adventure will be. Thankfully, it was not a long wait with a rather quirky new trailer foreshadowing what is coming in the next two content updates, Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores.
Both of these upcoming DLCs are larger than The Hungering Deep and have a more involved story with additional dynamic content.
In the case of Cursed Sails which will be released in July, we will see the emergence of AI controlled Skeleton Ships, adding a PVE element to the open world pirate adventure. As part of this DLC update, there may be new Order Of Souls skull bounties, that involve us taking down Skeleton Ships and collecting the remains.
Forsaken Shores on the other hand opens up a brand new zone to explore, full of fire, brimstone and volcanoes. Pretty much the opposite to the Sea of Plenty. So far, we do not know anything else beyond that it will be a new zone to explore and uncover secrets.
Now, this may be digging too deep into the trailer but from the above photo, you can see a small glimpse of a life boat. Seeing as life boats are a commonly requested feature for Sea of Thieves, they could be seeing an arrival in either Cursed Sails or Forsaken Shores. Or they could not be coming at all, but try and stay positive.
Rare has been quite transparent about the upcoming DLC and the plans to continually add new content. With Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores releasing in July and September respectively, we can see that they are sticking to their promise and these will certainly expand the Sea of Thieves world in a big way.
