Realm Royale is the colourful and fantastical take on the intensely popular Battle Royale genre that is changing the face of gaming. Developed by Hi-Rez Studios, the developers behind Paladins: Champions of the Realm, Realm Royale was initially going to be an added game mode of the former but quickly spun off into its own momentous experience.
The game throws 100 aspiring winners into a massive fantasy world and forces them to fight to the death with a poisonous fog forcing them closer and closer together. The fog element initially began as an abandoned Paladins mode known as Survival which fostered intense and fast-paced gameplay by slowly shrinking the map size.
Realm Royale lets you slide into the ability-laden shoes of the Engineer, Warrior, Assassin, Mage or Hunter, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and awesome designs. One of the standouts of Realm Royale is that it is designed with four-person squads in mind, which breeds teamplay and a lot more synergy throughout the course of the match.
Despite having a wide range of abilities to utilise in order to crush your foes, and being able to take in standard weapon types when the game begins, you can seek out and craft Legendary Weapons. There are forges scattered throughout the map that allow you to truly embrace the fantasy, by say crafting an Ice Staff. The downside to this is that you can be attacked at any time while you wait.
Realm Royale is finally entering its closed beta stage and simultaneously coming to consoles in a delightful double twist. If you are a lover of action-packed battle royales and colourful, intricately designed characters, environments and skins then I highly recommend that you jump in on the action.
