Assassins Creed Odyssey takes us to the rich-in-history, rich-in-turmoil world of Ancient Greece, where our actions play a direct role in the shaping of history. Aside from the massive main game/story, Ubisoft has detailed their plans in providing a steady stream of content for players to consume post-release.
The more traditional DLC comes as part of a Season Pass, giving access to two major story arcs: Legacy of the First Blade and The Fate of Atlantis. Each of these story arcs is presented across three episodes, for a total of six. A new episode will be released roughly every six weeks after the DLC launches.
Legacy of the First Blade introduces Kassandra/Alexios to the early predecessors of the Assassins, including the very first person to utilise the iconic Hidden Blade. Legacy will release in December 2018, and as stated above will continue the story over three episodes. You can play them as they release, or wait until the final episode is released and play it right through.
Fate of Atlantis delves deeper into the First Civilisation and puts players face to face with creatures straight out of Greek mythology. Fingers crossed for Scylla and Charybdis, or even Circe! Fate of Atlantis will launch its first episode in Spring 2019 (Autumn for Australians).
But that isn’t all, as free content in the form of Lost Tales of Greece, will add new story quests and pursuits in the world. This will be interspersed periodically between the episode launches and will be available for all players, whether or not you have purchased the Season Pass.
Daily bounties will send you scouring the far corners of Ancient Greece and will reward you with a special currency that you can only spend with Oikos of the Olympians. Interact with him to acquire powerful weapons and armour that rotates, giving you ample selection.
One step up are the weekly bounties, which place powerful mercenaries and Epic ships out into the world for players to take down and loot to oblivion. They are not going to be easy to defeat, so make sure you bring your A-game.
Finally, one of the pinnacles of the endgame are the numerous, incredibly powerful mythological encounters you will be able to undertake. Not simple boss battles where you stumble upon their lairs and are able to dispatch them easily, they require a lot of searching, planning and murdering to find them. And then you still have to take them out!
Gameplay for Medusa shows her to be a fierce opponent, ultra-speedy, with energy blasts and a stone gaze thrown in for good measure. Medusa and the other mythical creatures that will undoubtedly be featured alongside her, are not for the faint-hearted and can quickly overwhelm you even if you are max level.
Most likely, players will encounter some of the more iconic creatures from Greek myth, such as Polyphemus, Echidna, Typhon, Cerberus etc. We will just have to wait until the 5th October to truly find out.
