With Blizzcon in full swing, Overwatch has announced the 29th Hero for the popular shooter, Ashe. The rifle-toting, dynamite-tossing leader of the Deadlock Gang is the newest Damage character to join the fight. Story-wise Ashe is tied to McCree, who essentially granted her the first taste of the outlaw lifestyle, one she thoroughly enjoyed and was quite good at.
So what abilities can we expect from our new Bandito who has already inspired wonderful fan art and merch? Seriously, there is already a Pop Vinyl and Loungefly gear.
Ashe makes use of a semi-automatic rifle known as The Viper, capable of rapidly firing quick shots from the hip. Consequently, she can also aim down sights to make those longer range precise shots, dealing more damage.
The Coach Gun is Ashe’s movement ability, knocking enemies backwards and propelling herself backwards for that little bit of extra distance. The reveal trailer for Ashe showed her use the Coach Gun on the ground to launch herself up, so we have quite a few possibilities with this ability. If the cooldown is quick enough mayhaps we can blast ourselves across the map like an extremely loud wild western shooting star…with dynamite.
Speaking of dynamite, Ashe can toss out a bundle of the explosive that will detonate after a short delay or immediately when shot with The Viper. As an added bonus, enemies caught in the blast radius will be lit on fire, taking damage over time.
Ashe’s Ultimate ability summons her trusty robot butler-turned-bandit B.O.B. Look at his wonderful facial hair and bowler hat, B.O.B is the real MVP. When activated B.O.B will land in front of Ashe, charge forward flinging any enemies he encounters up into the air. Following this, he will then lay down suppressing fire with his arm cannons.
Being a physical entity and not just an ability, B.O.B can be debuffed, healed and buffed. He can also capture and contest objectives, buying your team time to stage a comeback. However, as sad as it is, B.O.B will eventually leave the battlefield.
It is definitely the month of the Wild West, with Red Dead Redemption II having recently been released, and now Ashe. Playable on the Overwatch PTR, she will be officially released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One shortly.
