With the dawning of each new day it seems certain that the roster of playable fighters for Jump Force will grow ever larger. Over the last few days, six new fighters and a new arena have been unveiled. So who are these familiar colourful characters that players will be able to master?
Going in alphabetical order, Asta from Black Clover is up first. The protagonist of Black Clover, Asta is a member of the Clover Kingdom’s Black Bull squad and is the wielder of the Five Leaf Clover Grimoire. Specialising in anti-magic which, as the name suggests, he utilises to nullify magic, Asta seeks to become the Wizard King.
In Black Clover, Asta can activate his Black Asta form which greatly increases his strength and stamina as well as allowing him to fly. This form is characterised by a black horn appearing on the right side of his head, a wing sprouting from the right side of his back and the elongation of his right canine teeth. The above image definitely hints that one of Asta’s abilities, perhaps the fourth one, will allow him to enter his Black Asta form.
One Piece’s Boa Hancock is the captain of the Kuja Pirates and is the current Empress of Amazon Lily. Utilising the powers of the Mero Mero no Mi Devil Fruit, Boa is able to turn anyone who lusts or desires her, into stone. Pairing with this is the fact that any lust or love that one holds towards Boa, is emphasised due to the effects of the Mero Mero no Mi. Bolstering this is her incredible physical strength, tending to favour kicks, similar to Sanji, with which she can completely shatter stone.
Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku is the protagonist of My Hero Academia and the possessor of the One For All Quirk. For those that don’t know Quirks are superhuman abilities that one must be born with, with the exception of the combined One For All.
The One For All allows the user to transfer the Quirk to other people, as well as Stockpile energy. Imbued with superhuman strength, Deku is granted increased mobility and agility.
Also joining the fight is Bleach’s Renji Abarai, lieutenant of the 6th Division under Byakuya Kuchiki. Utilising a powerful whip-sword known as Zabimaru, Renji possesses great physical skill and discipline that makes him a formidable foe. It is highly likely that players will get to utilise Hihio Zabimaru, transforming Zabimaru into a giant skeletal snake, which will deal incredible damage to his opponents.
Trunks is the hybrid son of Vegeta and Bulma and a powerful Saiyan in the Dragonball Z franchise. Having been trained by Vegeta since he was a young child, Trunks possesses incredible power, able to devastate his opponents with a vicious array of energy attacks.
Revealed a few months ago, Yusuke Urameshi, from the YuYu Hakusho series, has had his Mazoku form shown off in all its spiky-haired glory. In this form Yusuke channels his demonic power making him a deadlier opponent, and someone players will definitely need to watch out for.
As we fast approach Jump Force’s release date of February 15th 2019, the excitement is only growing, accentuated by each reveal that Bandai Namco teases us with. It is going to be quite exciting to see what surprises still await us when the game drops.
